Sacramento – America’s Farm-To-Fork Capital

Posted on Oct 31, 2012

Since we opened our doors nearly four years ago, Grange has been committed to supporting our farming community by purchasing as much locally grown produce and meat as possible. We’re not alone in this mission – it’s become common place for many Sacramento area restaurants to do the same which is why we were so excited for today’s Proclamation by Mayor Kevin Johnson that Sacramento IS America’s Farm to Fork Capital.

Why the proclamation? Sacramento locals and chefs are proud of what we have here in our city and we think it’s special – produce and meat from farmers in our own backyard are in demand by chefs all over the United States and the world. Our Mediterranean climate produces one of the nation’s most diverse and high-quality bounties of crops year round – we have as many as 8,000 acres of boutique farms right here in the Capital region and Sacramento is home to the largest “Certified Farmers Market” in California! No other major city in America is more centrally located amid such a vast range of farms, ranches and vineyards.

In addition to the Proclamation, the Sacramento Convention & Visitor’s Bureau also announced today the 1st Annual Sacramento Farm to Fork Festival to be held in September 2013. This will be a week-long festival featuring food, chefs, wine, beer and farmers. We couldn’t be more pleased to be right here in Sacramento – America’s Farm-To-Fork Capital!
